Day 67 East of Miami
Another glorious day at sea today! The sun shone and as we moved further south the weather became warmer. The sea is now a beautiful turquoise in colour and very calm. This morning we had a lecture by Richard Detrich on Antigua and Barbados. He likened England and Spain bickering over the islands in the Caribbean in the 18th century to his two female dogs jockeying for position. These two islands are part of the commonwealth today. Bill went to the Quick Step lesson by himself, today because I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure while watching the beautiful sea pass by outside the salon window. Tonight we watched Phillip Huber perform with his marionettes. He makes the puppets and their costumes and props. He had about twelve different puppets. My favourites were the Maltese terrier dog that sniffed a parcel, lifted one ear at a time, undid the parcel to discover a teddy bear inside, and picked up a bone and gave it to the bear. There was also a violin player, and another puppet that was a piano accordion player. Some of the puppets danced, another sang and another did acrobatics. They were all superbly dressed. (Barbara)
